First Aid at Work

It’s a well known fact among everybody in Customer Facing roles that the mention of First Aid Training fills them with dread and despair. That’s because traditionally First Aid Training in the workplace was farmed out to the cheapest training provider they could find who were running courses part-time in between Ambulance or Nursing shifts so the content was extreme and terrifying , or they were First Aid by Numbers, mass-produced, soulless hours wrapping bandages round each other because they business wanted that training providers logo on their certificates. The big training providers (who shall remain nameless for legal reasons) would farm out endless hours of boring content based entirely on the belief that they were the experts in the field.

Now though, things have changed, and First Aid Training can be made more exciting by allowing Trainers with personality and actual operational experience to train people in real, life-saving skills that are tried and tested over years of front-line operational experience.

It is absolutely vital that frontline staff have the knowledge and skills to help an injured person, whatever that might be, but they must also have the confidence and self-belief that they should help. We are all about empowering people to have the confidence to do something, as and when the time comes. Not just mandatory training to tick a box, but real-life skills that will make a difference to people.

To quote the great Optimus Prime, “Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing”. An emergency can happen at any time, at work or at home, shopping in the supermarket or on Holiday on the beach in Spain. First Aiders should be ready to respond and adapt until professional medical assistance arrives to take over.

I have a young Family, should I be First Aid trained?

Absolutely. Some formal training in First Aid is essential for new parents as children like to get into mischief as often as possible. Even just the Basic Life Support, Half Day course, would give you the skills needed to respond to life-threatening conditions.

I can’t afford to shut my business down for 3 days to have everyone First Aid trained

Of course not. There are guided learning hours which must be met but they don’t necessarily have to be completed consecutively, which means we as trainers, have a certain degree of autonomy to fit those hours in over a greater period of time. It might even be that not everybody has to do the full 3 days, you should have a First Aid Risk Assessment to see what you require.

I don’t know how to do First Aid Risk Assessments

That’s OK, we can come and do it for you. Email us at info@bethebesttoday.co.uk and arrange a call. We will come and complete your Risk Assessment for only £200.00, but if you book First Aid training with us within 6 months of the assessment, we will give you that £200 off the total cost of training.

What Courses do you offer?

  • FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (RQF)
  • FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION AND AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATION (RQF)
  • FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AND SAFE USE OF AN AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (RQF)
  • FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (RQF)
  • FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST AID AT WORK (RQF)

Why don’t your offer Pediatric First Aid?

Quite simply because we do not have the operational experience to deliver it with the necessary degree of confidence for child care settings. However, we can include Pediatric information as part of the above courses, or, we can call on one of our partner trainers to come and deliver Pediatric version of either of the Level 3 courses

Why don’t you offer the FREC and ILS courses?

Again, we will only teach subjects that we have operational experience in and although Steve has been present in some scary situations in many different environments, he was always lucky enough to have a qualified medic on hand to deal with them. If your Risk Assessment or Policy shows that you or your staff require that level of training then contact us and we will arrange one of our Training Partners to deliver the course.
